About The Role:
We have an exciting new role for a Business Development Manager working Nationally to join the team. To represent Specialist Plant Associates by developing strong and successful relationships with key external & Internal stakeholders to win, develop and secure revenue streams from large major customers operating in the rail, civils and water industries.
You will be working closely with the Technical Director to develop and deliver a commercial strategy for our products in order to achieve high ROI goals in accordance to Specialist Plant Associates business objectives.
This will be done by optimising revenue incomes through multiple sales channels (International National, Regional and Internal), identifying and marketing differentiated value propositions overall customer experience.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- To carryout site surveys to determine our customer requirements, be first point of contact for our customers.
- Create and maintain sales pipeline reports to management, using CRM packages to be updated in line with business unit KPIs
- Compile and deliver reports in and around your business area. These are expected to be comprehensive and delivered in a timely fashion.
- Keeping up to date with products and competitor’s activity and general market conditions.
- Working with product specialists to ensure a collaborative approach to the sales process, with regards to any specific sector requirements.
- Creating new strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities for your region
- Create development plans that will focus on both elements of hire and sale products with also National /Development and local account management to maximise all revenues and expand all of Specialist Plant Association product range.
About You:
Ideally you will come from the plant hire industry, with specific experience in the ventilation sector.

To succeed as a Business Development Manager within Specialist Plant Associates you will bring the following skill-set and behaviours:
- You will have already undertaken an Account Management role and have significant experience in the Plant Hire Industry, preferably in either a Sales or Contract Management role.
- You will have the experience, confidence and ability to positively and professionally represent Specialist Plant Associates and develop strong and successful relationships with key external stakeholders. You will also be able to demonstrate the experience and ability to lead on tender bids ensuring profitability and good ROI.
- Key to success will be your ability to enable collaboration as you’ll work with a highly knowledgeable technical team, along with highly driven marketing team.
The Essential Requirements:
- Plant Hire industry knowledge.
- Considerable Sales Management experience of working closely with Tier 1 customers.
- Commercial Acumen – to ensure competitive contracts are proposed and bid for.
- Tender & Bid writing – able to contribute to sizable bid opportunities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills – both internally and externally.
- Maintain your CRM
- Teamwork – able to work across teams and across the company to build customers proposals and form commercial contracts
