Cost Estimator /Tender Engineer
Location: Bahrain
Hours: 8.30am to 5pm 6 days a week
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Job Purpose:
The Cost Estimator / Tender Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects, with a strong focus on earthworks and tunneling. The role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and familiarity with industry-standard estimation tools and contract conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including earthworks and tunneling.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive tender proposals.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and ensure accuracy in material, labor, and equipment cost calculations.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary data for estimation.
- Review and interpret geotechnical reports for tunneling and earthworks projects.
- Utilize estimation software (preferably CANDY) to develop cost models and tender submissions.
- Ensure compliance with NEC standard contract conditions and other relevant contractual requirements.
- Provide value engineering options and cost optimization strategies during tender preparation.
- Maintain updated knowledge of market rates, material costs, and industry trends in Bahrain and the GCC region.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Civil Estimator.
- At least 3 years of experience in earthworks estimation.
- Tunneling estimation experience is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with CANDY Estimation Software (preferred).
- Knowledge of NEC standard contract conditions (preferred).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
Other Competencies:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
