Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Mold
Hours: 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Position Overview
We invite applications for the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor. The appointed individual will be instrumental in cost forecasting and management, beginning with a significant project based in Chester. Reporting directly to the Project Director and supported by the Commercial Director, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will maintain a strong on-site presence, delivering commercial and contractual guidance to protect the company’s financial and contractual interests. This role ensures full entitlement is realized and that all information is produced accurately and promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of internal commercial reports and any other necessary documentation as required by the business.
- Compiling valuations and applications for payment, ensuring all supporting documentation is provided in line with contract requirements.
- Producing cost reports for the client, complete with contractually compliant supporting documents.
- Developing and overseeing subcontract and material procurement schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective supply chain management.
- Administering subcontractor and supplier accounts, from detailed requisitions and monitoring to authorisation of payments and agreement of final accounts.
- Managing contract administration including change management and maintaining all associated registers.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities, driving value engineering initiatives and managing project change.
- Utilising the company’s costing system to track and manage project costs accurately.
- Ensuring all internal commercial reporting and any ad hoc reports are completed as required.
- Manage personnel as required to support the site commercial function.
Person Specification
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, including at least 2 years at a Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
- Proven experience in shafts and tunnelling projects is essential.
Technical Competencies:
Strong commercial acumen with a thorough understanding of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
Highly computer literate, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Skills & Attributes:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective presentations and negotiate persuasively with key stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently, taking initiative to drive results.
