HR Apprentice – Level 3 CIPD

Location: Head Office based Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
Contract: Full-time, Apprenticeship
Salary: Apprenticeship rate (dependent on age/experience)

Joseph Gallagher Limited is a leading civil engineering and construction business delivering complex projects across the UK and internationally. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic HR Apprentice to join our busy HR team and begin their career in Human Resources.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on HR experience while working towards a Level 3 CIPD qualification.

About the Role

As an HR Apprentice, you will support the HR team across a wide range of generalist HR activities, developing practical skills and knowledge in a fast-paced, operational environment. You will work closely with managers and employees, gaining exposure to employee relations, recruitment, learning & development, and HR administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the employee lifecycle from onboarding to leavers

• Assisting with recruitment activities, including adverts, interviews and offers

• Preparing contracts, letters, and HR documentation

• Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems

• Supporting absence, probation, and performance review processes

• Assisting with HR projects and audits

• Providing first-line HR support to employees and managers

• Ensuring confidentiality and compliance with employment legislation

About You

W are looking for someone who is eager to learn and develop a long-term career in HR.

You will ideally have:

• A genuine interest in Human Resources

• Strong organisational and communication skills

• Good attention to detail and a professional approach

• Confidence using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (or willingness to work towards them)

• A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn

No previous HR experience is required – just the right attitude and commitment.
