Role Purpose
The Graduate CAD Technician supports engineering and design teams through the preparation of technical drawings, BIM models, and engineering documentation for infrastructure, groundworks, and tunnelling projects.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop earthworks models and grading layouts from survey and design data.
· Generate cut-and-fill calculations and volumetric reporting.
· Prepare machine control models and digital terrain models.
· Coordinate topographical and utility survey information.
· Work in accordance with BIM Level 2 / ISO 19650 standards for information management and collaborative delivery.
· Produce drainage and haul road layouts for construction planning.
· Comply with CDM 2015 regulations, company HSEQ procedures, and promote a positive safety culture across all activities.
· Support commercial teams with quantity take-offs and material movement assessments.
Technical Requirements
· Advanced Civil 3D proficiency including surface modelling and corridor creation.
· Experience with topographical surveys, GPS data, and machine control outputs.
· Knowledge of bulk earthworks, deep excavations, and temporary haul roads.
· Familiarity with LSS, N4CE, or Trimble Business Center is advantageous.
· Understanding of site logistics and enabling works sequencing.
Experience & Qualifications
· HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or CAD-related discipline.
· 3+ years of experience within earthworks or enabling works environments.
· Strong understanding of levels, coordinates, and construction tolerances.
