Role PurposeThe Project Engineer supports the successful delivery of infrastructure, groundworks, and tunnelling projects through technical coordination, Program management, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate engineering activities between site teams, designers, subcontractors, and clients.
· Monitor project progress against Program, cost, and quality objectives.
· Support NEC4 contract administration, early warning processes, Program reviews, and change management activities.
· Support procurement activities and subcontractor management.
· Review and manage technical queries, RFIs, and construction documentation.
· Comply with CDM 2015 regulations, company HSEQ procedures, and promote a positive safety culture across all activities.
· Assist with risk management, temporary works coordination, and permits.
· Prepare progress reports, look-ahead plans, and engineering trackers.
Technical Requirements
· Understanding of NEC4 contracts and UK infrastructure delivery models.
· Knowledge of tunnelling, deep excavation, or heavy civils construction methodologies.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and common engineering document systems.
· Understanding of QA/QC processes and inspection test plans.
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction sequencing.
Experience & Qualifications
· Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
· 3–7 years of infrastructure or heavy civil engineering experience.
· SMSTS or SSSTS certification advantageous.
· Working towards Chartered Engineer status preferred.
