The Tunnelling Foreman/Pit Boss is responsible for overseeing the works and ensuring that each person under their control knows how to safely undertake the required tasks.

The Tunnelling Foreman/Pit Boss  helps to create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment, motivating the workforce and, ensuring efficiency and productivity in achieving the project targets.

Tunnelling Foreman/Pit Boss Responsibilities:

• Manage Gangers and Lead Miners

• Ensure that day to day lifting operations are controlled as defined by the Appointed Person (lifting).

• Be responsible for the control of workplace transport in their areas of work

• Ensure that personal protective equipment is provided and used as required by the site rules and procedures.

• Maintain written records and site diary’s

• Organise and manage the supply of materials in good time.

• To provide expert advice, support and guidance relating to all works during day to day activities.

Tunnelling Foreman/Pit Boss Experience:

• Have previous experience within a supervisor role managing Health and Safety on site.

• CSCS Site supervisors Qualification

• SMSTS or SSSTS Qualification

• Tunnelling experience
