General Responsibilities
· Safely operate company vehicles in accordance with current road traffic legislation, industry best practice, and Company policies and procedures.
· Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach at all times, acting as an ambassador for Specialist Plant Associates when interacting with customers, suppliers, contractors, and colleagues.
· Support the operational requirements of the business through the efficient collection and delivery of equipment, parts, materials, consumables, and documentation.
· Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to changing business demands, including urgent or priority transport requirements.
· Maintain high standards of personal conduct, professionalism, reliability, and attendance.
· Promote and uphold the Company's LIFE (Living Incident Free Everyday) culture, actively contributing to a safe and positive working environment.
· Comply with all Company Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Transport policies and procedures.
· Report hazards, incidents, vehicle defects, near misses, and operational concerns promptly through the appropriate reporting channels.
Essential;
· Full UK Driving License with a proven record of safely operating vans, pick-ups, and light commercial vehicles in a commercial environment.
· Proven experience in the transportation, collection, delivery, loading, and unloading of plant, machinery, equipment, tools, materials, and consumables.
· Extensive practical knowledge of load securing methods and load restraint techniques for a wide range of load types, including plant, machinery, palletised goods, fabricated items, steel products, and irregular loads.
· Demonstrable competence in the correct use of ratchet straps, chains, load binders, edge protection, cargo nets, sheeting systems, and other load restraint equipment.
· Strong understanding of load distribution, axle weight restrictions, vehicle loading principles, center of gravity considerations, and transport compliance requirements.
· Experience assessing load characteristics and determining suitable securing methods to ensure safe transportation.
· Sound understanding of the legal obligations and safety implications associated with load security and road transport operations.
· Experience working within transport, logistics, plant hire, construction, engineering, utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, or similar operational environments.
· Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to effectively plan workloads and prioritise competing demands.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when completing transport documentation, vehicle inspections, and delivery records.
· Competent user of mobile technology, electronic job management systems, vehicle inspection applications, and Microsoft Office software.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
· Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a wider operational team.
· Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements, manual handling, vehicle safety, hazard awareness, incident reporting, and risk management principles.
· Positive attitude towards continuous improvement, training, and personal development.

· Safety First Ethos: Consistently demonstrates safe behaviours and places safety, compliance, wellbeing, and professionalism at the forefront of all decisions and actions.
Desirable;
· Forklift Truck Licence (Counterbalance or equivalent) with experience operating material handling equipment within depot, yard, warehouse, construction, or engineering environments.
· First Aid at Work qualification.
· Experience using transport management, asset management, fleet management, workshop management, or equipment tracking systems.
· Additional driver development qualifications, including Driver CPC, defensive driving, fuel-efficient driving, transport compliance, vehicle safety, or load restraint training.
· Experience within plant hire, lifting equipment, construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing, or related industries.
· Demonstrable experience transporting plant, machinery, construction materials, palletised loads, steel products, and non-standard or irregular loads.
· Knowledge of transport legislation, load restraint guidance, road transport compliance requirements, and industry best practice.
· A proactive approach to continuous improvement, professional development, operational excellence, and safety performance.
