Due to continued project growth, we are seeking an experienced Surveyor to join our team on major microtunnelling and pipeline installation projects across the Middle East.
Role Overview
The Surveyor will be responsible for providing accurate surveying support throughout all phases of microtunnelling operations, ensuring works are executed in accordance with design specifications, project requirements, and industry best practices.
The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, site engineers, tunnelling teams, and clients to deliver precise setting out, monitoring, and as-built survey data.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out all surveys to control the position, line and level of microtunnelling drives, shafts, reception shafts, and associated pipeline installation works.
Establish, manage, and transfer survey control networks throughout microtunnelling operations.
Maintain tunnel survey control using high-precision survey equipment and transfer control between launch shafts, reception shafts, and intermediate access points as required.
Prepare survey documentation, reports, drawings, graphical displays, and as-built records for submission and review.
Advance and maintain survey control throughout shaft construction, microtunnelling drives, and pipeline installation activities, including the installation and verification of survey control points.
Monitor and verify tunnel alignment using guidance systems and surveying software, producing daily reports and alignment checks to ensure compliance with design tolerances.
Set out shafts, jacking frames, thrust walls, pipe installation works, and associated civil engineering structures whilst liaising with engineers and construction teams.
Carry out as-built surveys, deformation monitoring, settlement monitoring, and verification surveys as required by the project.
Implement processes for storing, managing, and retrieving survey data to support construction, quality control, and design verification.
Develop and document quality assurance checks and survey control verification procedures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of survey data.
Use Starnet least squares network adjustment software and other industry-standard survey processing software.
Where required, supervise assistant surveyors, chainpersons, and engineering staff whilst coordinating with site supervisors and section foremen.
Maintain a full and accurate daily site diary, including records of survey activities, design changes, variations, subcontractor attendance, and discussions with clients, consultants, and project teams.
Promote and maintain a positive health, safety, and environmental culture across all project activities.
Personal Qualities & Experience
Thorough knowledge of surveying procedures, control networks, and engineering survey methods.
Extensive experience in surveying and setting out on major civil engineering and underground infrastructure projects.
Proven experience in microtunnelling, pipe jacking, tunnelling, or trenchless technology projects.
Previous experience working for a major civil engineering contractor within a surveying department.
Proficiency in Starnet, Amberg, AutoCAD, Leica, Trimble, or equivalent survey software and equipment.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Professional Land Surveying qualification (Degree, Diploma, or equivalent).
Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and consistently deliver results to programme deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail, attendance, and timekeeping.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects within the Middle East would be advantageous.
