About the Role
JGL is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Engineer to join our team at the prestigious Old Oak Common infrastructure project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex underground civil engineering works, including the construction of a launch shaft and timber heading tunnel.
Reporting to the Site Agent and Project Manager, the successful candidate will provide technical leadership, oversee engineering activities, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all site engineering activities and supervise Site Engineers.
Manage setting out, surveying, and quality assurance processes.
Ensure construction works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Coordinate shaft excavation and timber heading tunnelling operations.
Review and implement temporary works designs and procedures.
Produce and review RAMS, task briefings, inspection test plans, and engineering documentation.
Maintain accurate records, as-built information, and quality documentation.
Liaise with clients, designers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Monitor progress against programme and support project planning activities.
Identify and resolve engineering challenges while minimising risk to programme and budget.
Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
Essential Requirements
Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven experience as a Senior Engineer within civil engineering, tunnelling, or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of excavation, temporary works, reinforced concrete, and underground construction techniques.
Experience managing engineering teams and coordinating subcontractors.
Excellent technical, leadership, and communication skills.
Strong knowledge of quality assurance procedures and engineering controls.
CSCS Card.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience
Shaft construction and deep excavation projects.
Tunnelling, timber heading, or underground works.
Temporary Works Coordinator experience.
NEC contract experience.
Working on major infrastructure projects.
Proficiency with Leica or Trimble surveying equipment.
SMSTS qualification.
First Aid at Work certification.
